Carob powder can substitute cacao or chocolate. It is a natural sweetener rich in calcium, phosphorus, potassium, carbohydrates, protein, magnesium, vitamin A, B, and D, and various metals. It is of a higher nutritional value than chocolate and contains less than half of cacao’s fat.
For a chocolate beverage, replace 2 scoops of chocolate with 3 scoops of carob powder. For cacao, replace it with an equal quantity of carob powder. It can also be used in sweets, cakes, pastries, drinks, and milkshakes like cocoa. As it is a natural sweetener it requires less added sugar. Alternatively, you can use carob syrup instead of sugar.
